Experience. Leadership. Results.

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my campaign website.

I’m Shelley Stedall, and I’m asking for your vote to become the next Mayor of Quinte West.

I bring the experience to understand our challenges, the leadership to bring people together and the commitment to deliver results that matter to you.

With more than 35 years in municipal government and four years on Quinte West Council, I understand the responsibility that comes with managing your tax dollars, delivering reliable services and planning for our community’s future.

Throughout this campaign, I have listened to your concerns about affordability, infrastructure, housing, healthcare and responsible growth. You also want better communication and a Mayor who listens and follows through.

With significant change coming to Council, experienced leadership matters. I will work to bring Council together, establish clear priorities and make informed decisions that serve all of Quinte West.

Please explore my background and platform, share your ideas and get involved.

On October 26, vote Shelley Stedall for Mayor. Experience. Leadership. Results.

I would be honoured to earn your confidence and your vote.

About Shelley Stedall - Candidate for Mayor of Quinte West

Experience rooted in municipal government, business and community.

Quinte West is where I raised my family, built lasting friendships and volunteered through soccer, hockey and karate. As a longtime resident, taxpayer and community supporter, I care deeply about our City’s future.

  • More than 35 years of municipal experience. I recently retired as a Chief Administrative Officer, following a career that included serving as a Director of Finance, Treasurer and Senior Municipal Financial Advisor with Ontario’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
  • Four years on Quinte West Council. My service has included work with Quinte Transit, Economic Development, Parks & Recreation, the BIA and Audit & Finance. I understand municipal government from both sides of the council table.
  • Strong financial and operational knowledge. My experience includes municipal budgets, long-term financial planning, asset management, infrastructure investment, development charges and municipal services.
  • Leadership that brings people together. I have built strong teams, mentored staff, led organizations through change and worked with councils, businesses, community organizations and provincial partners to solve problems.
  • Firsthand small business experience. Our family owned a pizzeria for four years. While working full-time, I handled bookkeeping, payroll and inventory, helped in the kitchen and took orders. I understand the long hours, financial pressures and sacrifices business owners make.
  • Professional relationships that strengthen my work. Through more than 20 years of involvement with the Municipal Finance Officers’ Association, including serving as President, I have built a strong network of municipal colleagues. I was recently honoured with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

I am committed to building a respectful Council that works together, listens to residents and remains accountable for results.

Shelley's Platform for Mayor of Quinte West

Practical priorities. Experienced leadership. Results for Quinte West.

My priorities reflect what residents have shared with me throughout this campaign. As Mayor, I will work with Council, staff and community partners to turn those priorities into action.

  • KEEP QUINTE WEST AFFORDABLE. Review spending, seek efficiencies and keep affordability at the centre of budget decisions. Review water-rate plans and user fees, with particular attention to the pressures facing seniors, families and residents on fixed incomes.
  • MAINTAIN AND IMPROVE INFRASTRUCTURE. Plan responsibly for roads, bridges, water and sewer systems, parks and recreation facilities. Prioritize maintenance and necessary improvements, pursue available government funding and consider both construction costs and ongoing operating costs.
  • INCREASE HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES. Work with developers, community housing organizations and government partners to encourage a range of homes for young families, first-time buyers and seniors wishing to downsize. Review development charges and housing incentives alongside infrastructure needs and available funding.
  • ADDRESS HOMELESSNESS WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS. Bring housing agencies, service providers and government partners together to pursue funding for transitional and supportive housing. Support qualified agencies in managing these facilities, with the services and operating resources needed to help people achieve stability.
  • SUPPORT RESPONSIBLE GROWTH. Improve the clarity and efficiency of development approvals while ensuring proposals receive proper review. Welcome suitable investment that respects farmland, natural areas, neighbourhood character and the capacity of our infrastructure.
  • STRENGTHEN OUR LOCAL ECONOMY. Support local businesses and attract commercial and industrial investment that creates jobs and broadens our tax base. Work with employers and partners to prepare for opportunities associated with investment at CFB Trenton and the needs that growth brings.
  • STRENGTHEN PHYSICIAN RECRUITMENT AND HEALTHCARE PARTNERSHIPS. Expand the physician recruitment working group to include hospital, physician and community healthcare representatives. Focus on recruitment and retention, support healthcare professionals in establishing practices and plan for retirements and population growth.
  • BUILD SAFE, HEALTHY AND CONNECTED COMMUNITIES. Support strong emergency services, accessible transit, trails and recreation opportunities. Work with community agencies on affordability, healthcare and connectivity through the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.
  • IMPROVE COMMUNICATION AND ACCOUNTABILITY. Hold annual town halls, explore a mailed City newsletter and make information about City decisions easier to find and understand. Establish clear priorities with Council and report on progress.
  • Trenton, Frankford, Sidney and Murray each deserve a voice. My commitment is to listen, respect your tax dollars and put experience and leadership to work delivering results for our whole City.
